Amy is a Maryland Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has
worked in the Mental Health field for over 10 years. She is a
caring, compassionate, empathetic person who takes a strengths-
based, holistic approach when working with clients. She not only
helps the client assess their strengths and build upon them, but
also believes that there is a mind/body connection that must be
nurtured in order to promote balanced, well-rounded mental
health. She is familiar with, and incorporates various techniques
into her practice such as: art, play, movement, music, reading,
homework and other activities.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Towson University in
Psychology, in the fall of 1998. She went on to obtain her Master’s
in Social Work with a CLINICAL concentration and a
specialization in FAMILIES & CHILDREN from the University of
Maryland, in 2001. During both her undergraduate and graduate
level training she held numerous internships. They included Villa
Maria, a residential treatment center for children with
psychological/emotional needs; Sheppard & Enoch Pratt
Hospital, on the Trauma Disorders Unit; BARC (Baltimore
Association for Retarded Citizens), in the residential section; and
the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services, in Family
Preservation.
Her work experience includes Sheppard & Enoch Pratt Hospital,
on the Trauma Disorders Unit; Anne Arundel County Department
of Social Services, in Foster Care; Integrative Counseling, LLC, a
substance abuse facility; Congruent Counseling, LLC, an
outpatient mental health facility, and is a member of the Howard
County Mobile Crisis Team (MCT).
She has attended over 175 hours of continuing education classes
about ethics, substance abuse, adoption, self-injury, trauma,
personality disorders, suicide, social work roles in the court room,
adolescent issues, couples issues, clinical assessment and group
dynamics. She has most recently participated in a 54 hour
Trauma Certification Program and received her certification in
June 2009.
